“Creativity in Unprecedented Times” presented with Adobe
CREATIVITY IN UNPRECEDENTED TIMES presented with Adobe Featuring Alexis Hunley, Bri McDaniel, Elinor Carucci, and moderated by Katrin Eismann Photoville 2020 Talks On-demand recordings are made possible in partnership with PhotoWIngs with additional support by the Philip and Edith Leonian Foundation In this year of COVID and calls for social justice, awareness, and responsibility, many have turned to photography to process and express what is taking place in their personal lives and communities. Join this panel of extraordinary photographers as they explore the topic of remaining creatively fresh and engaged while working within the limitations of social isolation, travel bans, and extremely divisive political discourse. This lively and inspiring discussion will include: — Photography work during COVID — The importance of personal projects — Thinking creatively within one’s environment — When the personal is political — Adapting to change photoville.nyc/online/creativity-in-unprecedented-times/

Elinor Carucci: Photographing to Remember, Photographing to Love
Elinor Carucci’s deeply personal images of family offer a window into the fleeting moments that shape our deepest relationships. Pulling from Closer, Mother, Midlife, and her unpublished project, Teen, her images of intimate family life are an expression of love: to see it more clearly, feel it more deeply, and hold onto it forever.

Community Heroes Toolkit Launch and Info Session
COMMUNITY HEROES TOOLKIT LAUNCH AND INFO SESSION Featuring Jasmin Chang and Zac Martin Photoville Festival 2022 online talks are made possible in partnership with PhotoWings If you are an artist who cares about your neighborhood; a person or group dedicated to local stories and history; a public space that wants to build community…then the Community Heroes toolkit is for you! This new and free resource helps you to organize a public art project in your community. It is an opportunity to work with your neighbors to recognize and celebrate incredible people who have strengthened and supported your community. Come learn about it from the project co-founders and writers of the toolkit! This Community Heroes project began as a collaboration in Fort Greene, Brooklyn in 2016. Since then, it has become an annual neighborhood staple in Fort Greene Park and Commodore Barry Park. The project has also been done in Bed Stuy, Crown Heights, Red Hook and University Heights in the Bronx. In response to many others asking to bring Community Heroes to their neighborhoods, we created a free project toolkit, so more people can create this project themselves! communityheroes.nyc/toolkit photoville.nyc/event/community-heroes-toolkit-launch/

Catchlight Summit 23 Sizzle Reel
Each spring, CatchLight gathers our fellowship community and leading voices in photography, media, art and technology for an immersive day of portfolio reviews, visual exploration, conversation, and community. Join us to be inspired by artists, founders, and innovators; learn from peers and industry leaders; and explore the world through visual works of passion and curiosity. Our theme for this year’s Summit, The Change We Want to See, reflects the unique power of photography, visual journalism, and creative practices to drive social impact. “Images are instrumental to how we understand our world. They connect people emotionally to issues, promote deeper understanding, build trust, and spark action,” says Elodie Mailliet Storm, CEO of CatchLight. “The Summit is a place where a global community of visual storytellers and leaders in media and technology can gather, share ideas, and push the field forward through partnership and innovation.” Returning this year as Summit MC is Zena Barakat, Emmy-nominated producer and executive design director at IDEO.
