She received her degree in Journalism in 1989 and moved to Paris where she studied Linguistics and Phonetics at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. She worked as a staff photographer for Folha de S. Paulo, in Brazil for 11 years, traveling extensively throughout the country and abroad. As a free-lancer, she contributes regularly with The New York Times. Michael Robinson Chávez has been a photographer at The Los Angeles Times since 2007 and lives outside of Los Angeles, California. He has covered wide-ranging national and international assignments in over 45 countries including: the Congolese Civil War, the 2010 earthquake in Chile, the revolution in Egypt, life in India's slums, economic decline in the United States, the 2006 Hezbollah/Israeli war, the Georgian/Russian war in 2008 and the US led invasion and occupation of Iraq. James Whitlow Delano has lived in Asia for 18 years. His work has been awarded internationally: the Alfred Eisenstadt Award (from Columbia University and Life Magazine), Leica’s Oskar Barnack, Picture of the Year International, PDN and others. Delano’s series on Kabul’s drug detox and psychiatric hospital was awarded 1st place in the 2008 NPPA Best of Photojournalism competition for Best Picture Story. His first monograph book, “Empire: Impressions from China” and work from “Japan Mangaland” have shown at several Leica Galleries in Europe. “Empire” was the first ever one-person show of photography at La Triennale di Milano Museum of Art. “The Mercy Project / Inochi” his charity photo book for hospice received the PX3 Gold Award and the Award of Excellence from Communication Arts. His work has appeared in magazines and photo festivals on five continents from Visa Pour L’Image, Rencontres D’Arles; to Noorderlicht. Speaking only for herself, Paula discusses how she deals with those troubling moments. Paula Bronstein has been working as a photojournalist for close to 30 years and as a senior staff photographer with Getty Images for 10 years. In the Asian region and beyond, she has covered an enormous variety of natural disasters, war – conflict zones, news and features. After September 11, 2001 she was assigned to cover Pakistan and Afghanistan, focusing a lot of attention on Afghanistan over the past decade of war there. Among the many coveted awards, Pulitzer finalist in the “Breaking News” category in 2011 for her work covering the “Pakistan Floods”. Photographer of the year by the Foreign Correspondents Club (FCC) of Thailand. 2010, runner-up “Photographer Of The Year” for her portfolio, in both Pictures of the Year-International ( POY ), and National Press Photographer’s Association (NPPA) . Other awards include Days Japan contest, finalist in the Leica Oskar Barnack Award. In 2008, the John Faber award from the Overseas Press Club of America.
