Companion participant workbook from the Fall 2023 Photoville Educator Lab.nnA Photoville Educator Lab workshop, The Compassionate Classroom: Social Emotional Learning via Arts Integration, produced by Photoville Education in partnership with PhotoWings and Abrons Art Center. Held on November 14, 2023, the lab invites educators to explore Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through various art mediums with an emphasis on visual arts and photography, offering space to explore the evolving work of trauma-informed care and youth development programming alongside collaborative sessions to connect with other educators.nnThe day featured an introduction to Healing-Centered Engagement and practical SEL classroom tools led by Danny Arenas, LMSW; a curriculum workshop with artist/educator Lacresha Berry; and a presentation by Bard High School teacher Alexis Lambrou and her students on their u201cSpeaking Portraitsu201d project, which was awarded a 2023 Photoville Educator Grant.nnWorkshop facilitators: Danny Arenas, Lacresha Berry, Alexis Lambrou and Bard High School students.
