Sara Terry on The Aftermath Project

At the 2016 Collaborations for Cause Conference, award-winning photojournalist Sara Terry offered the history behind her foundation The Aftermath Project, an educational nonprofit she started to support photojournalism documenting post-conflict stories. In this video, Terry takes us through the formative experiences she had as a photojournalist that lead to the evolution of this important organization, which celebrates a decade of remarkable work this year. Terry discusses a number of the powerful projects funded by Aftermath which demonstrate that “war in only half the story.”

Sara Terry is an award-winning documentary photographer and filmmaker, and journalist. She was a 2012 Guggenheim Fellow in Photography — and a member of IATSE Local 600. She is also the founder and artistic director of The Aftermath Project, a grant-making, educational non-profit founded on the premise that “War is Only Half the Story.”
She has lectured at The Annenberg Space for Photography in Los Angeles, and TedXNashville 2013, “Storytelling in a Post-Journalism World.” She teaches at The Community Storytelling Project at Venice Arts.
