In this event, Joachim Ladefoged, a contributing photographer to The VII Foundation, shares insights on how photographers can create a personal style and voice that resonates with editors, clients, and viewers. Drawing on insights from both his staff and freelance careers, he discussed strategies for developing a style that editors and clients recognize and seek out.
Joachim Ladefoged is one of the most inventive and creative photographers at The VII Foundation, revered by his colleagues for approaching every subject — whether sports, war, commerce, or portraits — with the same diligence and inventiveness. Over the course of his career, he has mastered complex, violent news stories, daily news, commercial assignments, and vibrant feature photography, with a strong focus today on portraiture.
His long-term projects include The Albanians, documenting lives amidst Albania’s transition from communism, and Mirror, a book and visual study of bodybuilding in Scandinavia.
Currently a staff photographer at Jyllands-Posten, Denmark’s leading newspaper, Joachim balances this role with freelance and client work, bringing a cross-genre perspective that alums can apply directly to their own practice.
This event was part of a two-part seminar on Developing a Personal Style and Voice.
