Preserving History: The Rescued Film Project

What would you do if you found yourself the owner of rolls and rolls of undeveloped film? What if they were from World War Two? Last year at an auction in Ohio, Levi Bettweiser bought 31 rolls of undeveloped film from World War Two with no idea who or what the negatives might contain. The short documentary above chronicles Levi's quest to preserve these amazing documents of history for future generations as part of his organization, The Rescued Film Project.

It is amazing to think that this film, a very delicate and destroyable medium, survived for so long carrying such precious moments of things otherwise lost to time. Here's to hoping Levi's endevours inspire others to care for old pictures with newfound thoughtfulness and reverence.
